Evidence-Based Treatments
CAST Wellness Online prioritizes the use of treatments that have a strong grounding in research. The decision to initiate therapy can be daunting and our goal is to ensure we utilize treatments that are effective. During your initial appointments, your provider will discuss the available treatments and you will be informed of the typical length and structure of each so you can make a well-informed decision.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT is a short-term evidence-based therapy used to help identify what is keeping you stuck. Through an evaluation of your values, mindfulness techniques, and exercises to help you let go of unhelpful beliefs we can help you stop struggling with anxiety and start living.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a short term, evidence-based treatment that can help you build skills to manage your symptoms more effectively. CBT has been found to be effective in the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, and other related conditions.
Dr. Feinberg specialized in the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy for a variety of anxiety-related disorders, insomnia, and trauma.
Evidence-Based Treatments for PTSD
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): A form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for PTSD. When individuals go through a traumatic event it may make them question their previously held beliefs about themselves, other people, and the world. People may blame themselves or others for their trauma leading to guilt and shame. CPT is a 12-session treatment that helps the individual identify these unhelpful beliefs and teach them ways to re-examine and change their thoughts.
Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE): A behavioral treatment for PTSD. PE is based on the premise that ongoing symptoms of PTSD are related to difficulties processing traumatic memory. Treatment involves gradually exposing the individual to situations that cause them distress in efforts to help them begin living a full life and reduce avoidance.
In addition, PE aids individuals in processing their traumatic memory in a safe and supportive environment.
Evidence-Based Treatment for Insomnia
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I): CBT-I is a short-term 7-session treatment for insomnia. There is strong empirical evidence that CBT-I is effective in the treatment of insomnia and has been found to lead to better short and long-term improvements in symptoms of chronic insomnia than current sleep medications.
Treatment involves identifying the behaviors and thoughts which maintain poor sleep and learning new healthy sleep habits and ways to challenge unhelpful worried thought.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment that has been found to be effective in the treatment of a variety of anxiety disorders. CBT emphasizes the impact of our thoughts on our emotions. Through the examination of a person’s thinking, we discuss ways to help challenge and change the thoughts which cause distress.
Treatment also involves the development of new skills to help manage anxiety and cope with difficult situations.
